Half Life 2: VR Mod is a fan-made project, which adds full Virtual Reality to the original 2004 PC gaming classic by Valve Software. It’s a great, fresh new way to play Half-Life 2. There’s very little not to like. HOWEVER, it’s very much not a good experience for those who experience motion sickness with smooth locomotion in VR.

Many have asked, and I’m sure many more will ask, for teleport locomotion. This isn’t really possible, because Half-Life 2 is essentially a movement shooter. It’s absolutely possible to play this mod like a cover shooter during combat, the mod team did a really great job being sure that the combat was balanced for that, but getting around the huge open maps and especially using vehicles requires smooth locomotion at the same speed of HL2’s movement. This is pretty much a given for any VR port of a desktop game though, so I can’t hold that against them.
